Product enhancement of internal and customer facing mapping software

Engrain transforms the way people find, visualize and analyze data, via next-generation products and map-based data visualization software. I spearheaded enhancement initiatives and devised innovative feature releases for SightMap, Asset Intelligence, and our internal system, Atlas. Through iterative refinement, I ensured these solutions met the highest standards of performance and user experience.

Collaborating closely with agile teams, my primary focus was on continuously improving and iterating on the SightMap product.

During my last major sprint, I worked on designing features within our maps to incorporate information about the new "Junk fee legislation" rolled out in 2024. This involved extensive research on various companies' approaches to addressing the issue and delving into state and federal legislation guidelines to ensure transparency about pricing.

I collaborated with the product and development teams to enhance and streamline the Atlas internal product. This platform consolidates all information, APIs, and data to power the SightMap display.

My role involved working with developers to implementing design solutions to simplify and add features to the back end process and data inputting that power the display of the maps.

One example was tileset creation through data visualization techniques. This included enabling users to draw lines between different points on the map to create unique groups.

Customer Portal

I led the development strategy, prototyping, and hand-off for an internal B2B portal, seamlessly integrating customer support and data management while bridging execution gaps.

Collaborated closely with stakeholders to simplify manual processes and enhance ordering efficiency for multifamily administrators managing and ordering our map products, as well as streamline internal process with our teams.

Partnership & UX Recommendations

Partnership audits were a huge part of my work at Engrain as well. One example is Valet Living. They were a company that dispatched workers to do door to door trash collection services and other maintenance on properties. Valet Living ofter faced difficulties dispatching and finding specific units for trash collection. Turnover was high and people were not familiar with the properties. Our partner needed a solution. I helped develop an app that gamified the experience, simplified the process, and provided detailed map information on units needing service. Crucially, it included turn-by-turn directions via node navigation to guide users efficiently.

With Engrain's interactive map technology, we provided Valet Living with an efficient, self-guided experience, simplifying and improving their process.

I provided another partner, Windsor Communities with guidance on leveraging map and data integrations to enhance user experiences for prospects. This includes enabling users to search and browse at a unit level across Windsor properties, based on UX best practices, professional expertise, user research, and data analytics.

User Story: As a prospective tenant, I want to easily search for an apartment that meets my criteria within a preferred location. I expect to use a map interface to pinpoint and select my ideal property and unit location. Searching across properties in a desired area should yield more results matching my specifications.

Integration Recommendations:

Implement the "View on Map" feature using the JavaScript API to filter units by floorplan.

Develop custom filters with the SightMap JavaScript API to refine unit and floor plan options.

Enable users to save choices for uninterrupted searching.
Improve unit cards by adding pricing data.

Utilize the SightMap REST API for floorplan cards.

Considerations & Requirements:

Introduce unit search and HUB pages for quick searching.

Ensure map access throughout the website journey.

Differentiate browsing and searching flows.

Assess the need for market-level pages.

Include pricing details in the interface for enhanced user experience.
